Lawrence County Board of Education
The Lawrence County Board of Education operates all the public schools in the county. The system's superintendent is elected to a 4-year term and the five board members representing their districts are elected to staggered 6-year terms.
 
Education
The public system's total enrollment is approximately 5,600 students.

Lawrence County has a Gifted Education program for grades 1-12.

Special Education needs are available for kids from pre-school to high school.

The Indian Education Program is headquartered at the Oakville Indian Mounds and involves students of American Indian Heritage.

Countywide Adult Basic Education, the Even Start Program and Community Education Program provide educational and recreational opportunities to adults and young people at the county's Family Educational Campus in Moulton.

There is an active Homeschooling network within the county.
