Moulton, Alabama – The Alabama Department of Tourism has named the Alabama Chicken and Egg Festival as one of 50 must-see music festivals in celebration of the 2011 Year of Alabama Music. The list is compiled in conjunction with the year-long promotion designed to attract tourists to Alabama to experience the history, hear the sounds and uncover the untold stories behind dozens of world-wide number-one hits.
The Alabama Chicken and Egg Festival joins top events such as the Mullet Toss and Beach Party in Orange Beach, Jubilee Cityfest in Montgomery, and the Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddlers Convention in Athens.
“The Alabama Chicken and Egg Festival was selected in part to the quantity and quality of music offered over the two day event,” said Brian Jones, regional director for the Alabama Department of Tourism. “The variety of genre available at the Alabama Chicken and Egg Festival is indicative of what is found throughout the state and fits in perfectly with the Year of Alabama Music promotion.”
“Alabama will play host to more than 300 festivals this year and we are honored to be featured as one of the top 50 to attend,” said Vicki Morese, event coordinator for the Alabama Chicken and Egg Festival. “The musical aspect has been an important component of the festival since the beginning, attracting thousands of visitors each year to Moulton. The additional exposure through the top 50 must-see list will only further elevate Moulton as the place to be April 9th and 10th.” This year’s lineup at the Alabama Chicken and Egg Festival features over 15 bands including Webb Wilder, D.B. Rielly, Leipers Fork Bluegrass Group, The Cadillacs Band, Delta Moon, and headliner Confederate Railroad on the Logan Pharmacy Stage.
The 2011 Year of Alabama Music is the eighth in a series of marketing campaigns produced by the Alabama Tourism Department. For more information, visit www.yearofalabamamusic.com
